TRANSITIONAL MULTIGENERATIONAL HOME REMODEL

This home is the gathering place of multiple families across many generations. After living in this home for over twenty years, the owners wanted to have a space where they could welcome their children and grandchildren into an open floor plan. Two generations share the home, so the project required adding more square footage in order to create two master suites, an open floor plan and lots of storage space in the attic. Fresh paint and new European White Oak hardwood floors give an edge to this home.

Kitchen – This transitional style kitchen is created for a family that cooks and entertains often. We designed a two-toned kitchen with white custom cabinetry that highlights the contrasting green (Sweet Basil by Benjamin Moore) island, super durable porcelain countertops, hexagonal backsplash, farmhouse style sink, and sleek appliances. The kitchen is spacious and well lit. The skylight is crafted with much detail and thought. It is the most exciting element in the kitchen for the family because it is centered right above the island bringing in lots of natural light and positivity into the space.

Living Area – The expansion of this living area with added footprint, vaulted ceiling, a brand new fireplace, and a statement French Door makes it the heart of the home. The fireplace is lifted off the floor, without a hearth, to add more space to the living room. The mantle above the fireplace was created with wood recycled from the front of the house, a gentle reminder of old times. The living room has added windows to provide more light and air.

Bathrooms – The bathrooms were updated with porcelain countertops, a mix of ceramic and porcelain tiles, featuring a decorative marble niche accent tile. The bathrooms are finished off with semi-custom vanities.
